See what our residents are enjoying...
A Visit To Trump Towers
Lunch at Sixteen, on the 16th Floor of Trump Towers in downtown Chicago. Marvel at the view down the Chicago River of the skyline and Lake Michigan.
Mendota Hills Wind Farm
Learn about "green" energy on a visit to wind farm near the village of Paw Paw in Lee County, IL. See the 63 wind turbines in operation. Hear about how wind energy works at the first utility-scale wind farm in the state of Illinois built in 2003.
Opera in Focus
Enjoy a piece of Chicago history... See an elaborate stage full of puppets reenacting operas on lavish opera sets that began in downtown Chicago during World War II as the Kungsholm Minitature Grand Opera. Over time, one of the original producers brought the show to Rolling Meadows, IL where it can be seen today.
Round Barn Players
A readers' theatre group of 12 men and women put on two plays a year for residents to attend. Coming up is "the Red Velvet Cake War," a comedy about mixed up family relations that takes place in Sweet Gum, Texas. The rehearsals are as much fun as the show!
The Art Institute and Art Excursions
Trips to Chicago's Art Institute are prefaced by an educational presentation by Dr. Jeff Mishur of Art Excursions in Riverside, IL. Exhibits and visits are made more meaningful when more is understood about the artist and the history of the times in which the artist lived. Dr. Mishur is a member of the Illinois Humanities' Council and leads tours art, architecture and public sculpture across the country.
Northlight Theatre and Ten Chimneys
The backstage story of Broadway legends Alfred Lunt and Lynne Fontanne. For decades, Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne entertained the most influential artists of their time - from Noel Coward to Sydney Greenstreet - at Ten Chimneys, their legendary retreat. In this new play, a spirited onstage rehearsal sparks an offstage romantic triangle. The result is a comically revealing look at the private lives of these very public figures. Then.... on to Genesse Depot, Wisconsin, the location of the Ten Chimneys Estate for a tour.
